In Sulisfjellet, we run cross-country trails, which Martin Johnsrud Sundby describes as the world cup standard and even better. The cross-country trails in Sulitjelma have been internationally recognized as one of Norway’s best cross-country trails. The Norwegian cross-country team, including Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Emil Iversen and Niklas Dyrhaug, has a gathering every season up until the Beijing 2022 Olympics at Jakobsbakken Mountain Resort. In addition, Bjørn Dæhlie has stated that he had to pinch himself in the arm of how nice the cross-country ski trail and the surrounding area was.
A good starting point for skiing is at Jakobsbakken. There the trail winds between the historic buildings of the old mining village with fantastic views of the Sulis mountains, before going inwards towards Tjorvi where the trail turns. Along the route, you will experience both beautiful views of some of Northern Norway’s highest mountain peaks and idyllic rivers at Junkerdal National Park. Here you can go skiing at approx. 30 km without skiing in the same trail twice.
